At PH247 we understand the stress that someone feels when their heating stops working. And, of course, usually we only notice that it is not working when we need it most. Our mission is to eliminate some of that stress by bringing customers simple, transparent procedures with pricing structures that they understand and no hidden costs.
Our Gas Safe registered engineers are just a call away and ready to repair your radiators or advise you of the best alternative option.
If your radiators aren’t working, there could be a number of reasons – and some of them could be simple, quick and low-cost fixes. If your radiator is cold at the top but hot at the bottom, the air might need to be bled out of it. Once the air has been released, hot water will be able to fill your radiator, improving its efficiency. A radiator can be bled easily using a special key.
If your radiator is cold at the bottom and hot at the top, this is another sign that something is taking up space where hot water should be. Reactions between water, oxygen and steel can produce a black sludge which impacts a radiator’s efficiency; this can be solved by removing the radiator and giving it a clean out but your plumber may advise flushing the entire system to get rid of all sludge.
If only one radiator is broken, it could be the TRV – thermostat regulator valve. This is easy to diagnose and fairly easy to fix.
If your radiators aren’t working properly, your plumber will check all the obvious options first, before looking at the balance of flow between your radiators and your boiler. They will let you know of their findings and give you straightforward, simple solutions – no technical talk – so that you can make an informed decision.
